Damage

Damage is the means by which both player and enemy reduce each other's health. When the enemy's health reaches 0, you win and can continue through the dungeon. If the player's health reaches 0, you are defeated and have to start back at the title screen.

Damage Types

There are a few main types of damage. These types are important because some enemies are strong against some types of damage, meaning they take half (rounded up) damage from attacks of specific types. Additionally, some enemies are weak to certain damage types, meaning they will take double damage.

  • Normal, represented by a sword. This applies to most types of damage, and no enemies are weak to (or strong against) this damage type.
  • Fire damage, represented by a fire. This applies to damage from extinguishing burned dice, and attacks where the damage has a fire symbol next to it, like Fireball or Burning Light.
  • Ice damage, represented by a snowflake. This applies to attacks like Snowball or Ice Shard.
  • Poison damage, represented by a set of three purple bubbles. Poison damage pierces through shields. Poison damage isn't caused by direct damage, but by the Poison status, which comes with attacks like Claw and Poison Cloud.
  • Shock damage, represented by a thunderbolt. It is caused by attacks such as Hammer and High Voltage. Also, removing Shock? in Parallel Universe episodes counts as shock damage.
  • Weaken damage, represented by a rock with a crack in it. This is caused by attacks such as Sonic Wave and Earthquake. No enemies are weak to (or strong against) this damage type.

The innate descriptions of enemies are shown before the fight begins to let you know what enemies are weak to elemental attacks and which enemies are strong against elemental attacks.
